A 10,000 EUR grant awarded to a young artist for studies abroad

The Jean-Claude Reynal Foundation, under the auspices of the Foundation of France, in collaboration with the Fine Arts School of Bordeaux, offers an annual grant of 10,000 EUR to enable a young artist, who works directly on paper, to travel to a country of his/her choice for a period of 6 months maximum.

Conditions
Candidates must be between 20 and 30 years of age and have had an artistic practice on paper for at least two years. All artists are eligible regardless of educational background or nationality.
50% of the scholarship money will be paid before departure and 50% at the time and place of the residency. The prize winner authorizes the Reynal Foundation to use a work of his/her choice on the media announcing the following year's scholarship competition. The chosen work will be approved by the executive committee.

Schedule

(ARTISTS, SCHOLARS & CURATORS) Research Fellowships at the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds, England—The Henry Moore Institute is a world-recognized centre for the study of sculpture in the heart of Leeds and invites applications for the following fellowship programmes in 2012–2013:

Research Fellowships are intended for artists, scholars and curators, working on historic and contemporary sculpture using the Institute’s library, archive of sculptors’ papers and the collection of Leeds Art Gallery. Up to four fellows will be given the opportunity to spend a month in Leeds to develop their own research. With access to our resources and an on-going dialogue with the Institute staff, fellows are free to pursue their own interests in a supportive and stimulating environment.

Senior Fellowships are intended to give established scholars (working on any aspect of sculpture) time and space to develop a research project free from their usual work commitments. Up to two senior fellowships, for periods of between four to six weeks will be offered.

Both fellowships provide accommodation, travel expenses and a per diem. The Institute offers the possibility of presenting finished research in published form, as a seminar, or as a small exhibition.

Calling All: Visual artists, Writers and Composers and Musicians

(WOMEN WRITERS) Grants of $500 to $1,500 each are given twice yearly to feminist writers. Women poets and creative nonfiction writers who are citizens of the United States or Canada are eligible. (WRITERS) Margolis Award & Residency—A stipend of $5,000 and a month long residency at the Blue Mountain Center, an artists colony in Blue Mountain Lake, New York, is given annually to a writer of nonfiction (including creative nonfiction with the exception of memoir) whose work recalls that of Richard J. Margolis, a journalist, essayist, and poet who wrote about those whose voices are seldom heard. Submit three copies of at least two writing samples totaling no more than 30 pages and a project description by July 1. There is no entry fee. (ALL) Camac and Fondation Ténot Residencies in France—Call for visual artists, writers and composers/musicians. Since 1999, Camac Art Centre with Fondation Ténot has promoted creativity and international exchange in the artist community.

Camac and Fondation Ténot offers each year a residency bursary (fellowship) to one visual artist, one writer and one musician or composer in order to create new career prospects for artists.

Camac is located 60min away from Paris in the village of Marnay sur Seine within the scenic Region of Champagne-Ardenne. This multi-disciplinary creative centre offers a unique environment for visual artist, writers or musicians. Camac aims at fostering communication and creativity among individuals and groups working on the evolution of ideas or realization of works.

Nature of the bursary:
- 2 month residency (dates to be arranged by mutual agreement between the artist and the institution)

International Residency Program at The Darling Foundry in Canada

(ARTISTS) International Residency Program at The Darling Foundry—The Darling Foundry, located in Old Montreal (Quebec, Canada), is an alternative visual arts complex with an outstanding architectural design. The Darling Foundry provides opportunities for research, creation, production, and exhibition. Its multifaceted spaces, spanning 3500 square meters, provide room for residency studios, living accommodations, technical workshops, gallery spaces, a restaurant and offices.

The International Residency at the Darling Foundry is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts. The program supports foreign visual artists from outside of Canada. One residency of six months will be awarded. The schedule of the residency is from the beginning of January 2012 to the end of June 2012. The resident artist will receive a grant amount of 23,000 CDN which contributes towards travel, subsistence, and production costs.

The resident artist will be provided with a studio measuring 100 square meters and a separate living accommodation (for single occupancy), with access to common living spaces. In addition, the Darling Foundry provides the laureate with organizational and technical assistance, promotion and networking opportunities. The resident artist will have the option to participate in open studio events, studio visits by arts professionals, and trips to artistic events. Applications are evaluated by a selection committee consisting of arts professionals. The committee base their selection on the artistic quality of the applicant’s artistic work, the potential impact of the residency on the applicant’s career, and the contribution to the Montreal and Canadian arts community.
